Joined studioWTA in 2001
John was one of studioWTA’s first full-time employees and has been instrumental in the firm’s growth. John understands that architects’ imaginations and productivity thrive best in a space and environment conducive to the creative process. He facilitates that environment, unites the office’s team, and frequently serves as the main point of client contact. John’s exposure to countless artists and musicians in his earlier career in the music recording industry gives him insight into the nexus of creativity and business, which serves him well at the studio.
John first met Wayne Troyer in their undergraduate days, and a lifelong friendship ensued. John considered pursuing architecture as a career as well, but instead he ventured off to Los Angeles where he worked in the music business for 20 years—including being in at the ground level of I.R.S. Records. Not long after his return to his hometown of New Orleans in 2001, he joined his friend’s growing firm.
John enjoys working in an environment that allows him to indulge his long-standing interests in architecture and historic buildings, and outside of the studio he and his wife have purchased and restored a number of rental properties in historic New Orleans. Beyond that, he currently serves as Chairman of the Bywater Neighborhood Association, stays heavily involved in the local live music scene, and works on schemes to divide his time between New Orleans and Berlin.
